It seems not, as a chance encounter with a friend of a friend has shown me. Enter Tomy. He's from Thailand and in a band called Dok Fin. Doesn't sound much, but he certainly seems out to turn around the world's view on what rates as being icky and what does not. I've only known him for two days and he's already talking of baby names. Scary maybe, but it's enough to warm a heart as cold and as industrialised as my own.
Take this evening for example. he wants to send me a dvd of his band, and I said being the polite person I am 'is there anything I can send you?' to which he replied 'your heart?' I must admit, I did feel myself melting ever so slightly. Instead of what you'd expect from people these days (sex, sex and quite possibly more sex) he said he wants to eat icecream together, go for walks and watch a movie. Ick yes, but it makes a refreshing change from the smut infested world we seem to be living in.
The only reason gestures such as poetry and songs have become 'cheesey' is because people's mentallity as a whole has changed towards love. Everyone does it, but no one seems to know exactly what it is. Perhaps writing songs for each other isn't an all round bad way to go about things.

He sounds so lovely!
It's such a nice change... the poetry and the sweet things.
...ask him if he has any nice single friends xD;
